This film does for Cruella De Vil what Maleficent did for – well – Maleficent.
If you ever wondered what her backstory was, this makes the perfect analysis as it follows the Dalmatian lover from birth to present day.
Nothing new from Thompson, she seems to sail through this at the same energy level she does everything else.
And Stone?..
I really don’t know. She embraced the character perfectly and gave a solid performance, but her overly dramatic attempt at a British fashion bitch was cringeworthy in places. And I felt the director had to make up for this by using (a lot of) moments where she comes strutting, very slowly, towards the camera whilst swishing her outfits or cheekily eyeing people around her.
